I first came across this app way back when I still had an iPhone 3G and Im glad its still around now. It helps me a lot with reviewing stuff from the crash course I had last year. It also give me new stuff to learn! Its amazing and Im really thankful for this.❤️️

I use this app to remember the concepts that I have forgotten, it is a great tool to start and maintain your generel Japanese knowledge

1) Now status bar is visible and overlays text which is a little bit annoying. 2) I think there was vocab in app which you could access from menu. Is it gone now?

Recommended to everyone wishing to learn such a difficult language as Japanese. It bridges the cultural, grammatical, historical and linguistic gap as no other App does.

An amazing and very intelligently constructed step-by-step course of the Japanese language with very well written and easy to understand explanations! A must have for anyone starting to learn Japanese!

This app is awesome. It Makes learning Japanese fun and easy. It is also really well designed.

I cant even put into words how much I love this app except to say I so look forward to my lessons. The lessons are very clear and anticipate my questions well. I think that is extremely "human". It lives up to the mission and promise of the creator that it is fun to use and yet impart the ability to teach user Japanese. I have tried so many years and so many ways, but never enjoyed as much as I do now learning via this app. The only thing I would like to see is the ability to slow down the Japanese pronunciation. Thank you and keep up the good work. やった!

Explains all the whys and hows in easily digestible form

Such a well thought out and executed app surely deserves more than the measly five stars we have an option to give.

A very well thought out program. I took 4 semesters of Japanese a decade or so ago, and this is a great way to re-light those neurons.

This guy makes it interesting and straightforward. He knows how it feels to learn a language and how to pace things in a way that things really stick.

This is a great app! Its a fantastic refresher course for the intermediate learner or good starter course for foundation (if you are a beginner). However, I would not recommend this course for the advanced.

When I decided I wanted to learn Japanese, I felt overwhelmed. I still do. But the authors of this app understand this, and go slow enough for me to understand and follow along. The writing is conversational rather than technical, and I *really* like that. Its like theyre saying, "Hey, we know this is hard, but start here. Well cover more later."

I’m planning my first trip in over ten years to visit family in Japan, and I got this app to brush up on my knowledge, since I have very little formal training and haven’t really practiced the language for…well, over ten years. (Gulp!) I’m half-Japanese but mostly grew up in the United States, so other than living in Tokyo for a couple of years and visiting Japan several times throughout my childhood, I haven’t had much occasion to speak Japanese. Human Japanese has proven to be an excellent crash review course, and more than that, it’s helped me understand some fundamental concepts of Japanese grammar that I never learned before. What’s unique about this beautifully designed course is that it explains the Japanese language from a native English speaker’s perspective, so you can understand the reasoning behind the very different Japanese grammatical structures rather than just memorizing rules that don’t make sense. This really helps with retention. Also, the course gradually builds on your knowledge; each lesson uses examples with vocabulary and kana (hiragana and katakana, the two syllabic writing systems indigenous to Japan) you learned in the previous lesson as well as teaching you new vocabulary and kana. Another fantastic feature is that nearly every word and phrase featured in each lesson is accompanied by an audio sample spoken by a native Japanese person, so you can learn correct pronunciation and also practice your listening comprehension. I also got the Human Japanese Intermediate app, which as I understand teaches some kanji (the ideogram-based writing system Japan borrowed from China). I am excited about continuing my language learning with Human Japanese and highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to review or learn Japanese for the first time. I feel confident now that by the time I go to Japan, I will be able to communicate on a basic level and enjoy some small talk with my Japanese relatives.

I learned so much in the last few weeks and its fun. My only regret is not buying the package deal.

I first used this app a few years ago. Trying it again on a trip to Japan now and its been enhanced considerably.

This app is easy to understand. It goes step-by-step. I love it, I pick it up and use it in my free time.

I studied Japanese 20 years ago and decided to start studying again. I saw a YouTube video of someone using this app and decided to try it. Everything came back and I have picked up on things I didnt get or understand before. I also like the cultural notes and history included at the beginning of new sections.
